Lodge Nurture is an individualised and intensive pathway designed to support students that need a more therapeutic approach to education.

Time At The Lodge

Initially we assess a student’s individual need to enable us to create a programme of support which aims to build their resilience, boost their self-esteem and develop their ability to access learning.

The curriculum that is delivered is child centered with a focus upon a therapeutic approach that could not be accessed within a mainstream setting.

Daily Session in The Lodge

All students will have a maximum of 4:1 Student to Teacher Ratio. The key focus of the Lodge Nurture is to create a bespoke child centered experience which can help to address any ACE with the aim of removing barriers to learning. A typical day might look like:

Lodge Nurture Curriculum

Lodge Nurture is a programme where we aim to achieve full time education for each student.

All students will have a maximum of 4:1 Student to Teacher Ratio. The key aspect of Lodge Nurture is around bespoke child centred needs
to address any ACE experiences.

Work Experience

Students will have a career plan which includes a work placement; a minimum of 1 day a week. This will initially be in various settings based on the child’s needs and likes to ensure the student experiences different working environments. All risk assessments, evaluations and reports are included.

Health & Well Being

Students at The Lodge will learn how to cook and eat healthily on a budget. Students will also have a lifestyle plan that is personalised to their needs and current fitness levels. This will include a regular training regime as well as a diet plan to help live an active & healthy lifestyle.

Individualised Pastoral Support Plan

Using the latest questionnaires and programmes, students are assessed in the following pastoral areas:

  • Self-control
  • Social Skills
  • Self-awareness
  • Skills for learning
  • Approaches to Learning

The assessment is then used to create an individualised learning plan to develop the student in order for them to cope better both inside and outside of the classroom.

Counselling & Therapy

Students will have access to a counsellor on a weekly basis and other talking therapies as appropriate.

Specific Teaching of Core Subjects

Students will have diagnostic assessment in both English and Maths into assess strengths s and weaknesses. Work will then be specifically designed to meet their needs and will be delivered on a maximum of 4:1 basis. Students will also have access to AQA Unit Award Scheme certificates based on their interests and needs.

Enrichment Activities

Students will have access to enrichment activities such as Animal Therapy, Rock Climbing, Introduction to boxing and trips to the Theatre to ensure the students leave as well rounded citizens of society.
